Commissions
-
A commission is a painting created specifically for a particular client at their request. It is a collaborative process between the artist and client that results in a bespoke work of art.
-
Christie is known for her still life and landscape paintngs.
Most clients wanting to commission an artwork will reference another painting by Christie that they like, have a photo they want re-created, or are simply looking for something unique in Christie’s style. Commissions must be in keeping with her general subject matter and mediums (oil paint, acrylic paint and some mixed media). She does not paint pets or portraits. If you have a special request outside of her normal style of work, please submit an inquiry.
Where possible, Christie will visit the client in person and view the space where the commission will hang. The space always informs the size, colour and subject of the commission. If an in-person visit is not possible, photos of the space will substitute. Communication is key at the onset of the commission process.
-
Christie’s prices are determined by a combination of factors. Commissions are custom work and generally cost more than a purchase of a completed artwork. Particularly large or unusual requests may incur additional charges. To receive a quote, please contact Christie here and provide the details of your request.
-
Almost any size can be accommodated. Custom canvasses or wood panels will be subject to additional fees.
-
A deposit of 50% may be required prior to beginning work. The remaining 50% will be paid by the client upon completion of the artwork, prior to shipping or delivery. Accepted payment methods include e-transfer, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, certified cheque or money order. Personal cheques are not accepted. An electronic invoice and receipt will be provided by Christie Baker. A an celled commission may e subject to further material costs and a re-stocking fee.

Christie works on commissions in the order they are received. A commission request is placed in the queue once the 50% deposit is received. Wait-times for a completed project can vary depending on how many requests were received ahead, and the size and scope of the commission. Oil paintings require a significant drying period before they can be safely packaged and shipped. Expect at least a 3-4 month turn-a-round on all oil paintings. Acrylic paintings may b e quicker. Timing will be discussed and agreed upon prior to starting work.
